As a mother, I want nothing more than for time to slow down. It feels like just yesterday I was changing diapers during sleepless nights, which felt like an eternity. We took all of her suggestions regarding the time and location of the photo shoot, as well as styling - the photos turned out to be some of my favorites ever taken! After photographing many portrait sessions over the past few years, I've found that personal connection is everything. That’s why this process begins with a conversation. I want to hear everything—how you met, your wedding day, the cute things your child does, and everything in between.
We’ll get to know one another, talk about the details of your session, answer any questions you might have about working with me and figure out if we’re the best fit for each other.
Let's Connect
Once your date is reserved, we'll connect to start chatting about possible locations for your session. I generally recommend choosing one location and if it's a place you haven't been before, it might be helpful to visit during the time our session will take place. That way you have an idea of the light, crowds, closing time, etc! If you're not sure about where you would like to take your photos but you have a general idea of the look you would like, just let me know because I would be happy to recommend a few locations based on your aesthetic!
I also have a few favorite studios that I love to photograph in. Ask me about studio options and I'd be happy to provide a list with my top spots.

Leading up to your session, I'll send over a Family Questionnaire for you to fill out. This helps me prepare for your session, while also getting to know you and your family before I arrive. This is essential for families with young children and really makes a big difference on our session day. I will also share my style and prep guide which will help you prepare outfits as well as other helpful tips to get you best prepared for your session.
On the day of your session, we'll connect to make sure the weather is still looking like it's going to corporate. We'll exchange numbers and finalize our meeting location. Please plan for your full length session to take about one hour from start to finish.

All images from our sessions are typically delivered within about two weeks of the shoot date via an online gallery. This gallery will allow you to share your favorites with family, order prints and even download images to share on social media.
Your gallery will remain active for four weeks.

The sooner the better! My weekends tend to fill up pretty quickly - especially during the spring and fall, so the sooner you reach out to me, the more likely you are to get your desired date!
To reserve your date, we'll need a contract as well as a deposit. And if something comes up and you need to change your date, just let me know!
How far in advance should I book a Portrait Session?
If picking out outfits for photos takes you back to your high school days when you literally tried on everything in your closet and piled it on your bed but still felt like you had nothing to wear, you're in luck.
I've put together an extensive outfit suggestion guide with tips for every member of the family (even Fido!)
What should we wear?
Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel awkward in front of the camera. Heck, I take photos for a living and even I feel like a deer in the headlights when I'm in front of the camera.
You're going to feel awkward at first, but as the session goes on and I coach you through images, I think you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun. And don't worry about your kids. I'm well versed in capturing even the busiest of little ones.

Within 1-2 weeks of your session, you'll receive a link to a digital gallery that will allow you to select your favorites from your session and download high resolution images.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format.
How will I receive my photos? Can I order prints?
No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, I'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule. Often, when we're scheduling our initial portrait session date, if it works for our calendars, we'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date.
What do we do if it rains or if it looks like it might rain?
Maternity Sessions can be booked as soon as you know your eggo is preggo. I recommend scheduling your session around 30-32 weeks gestation. This will ensure that you've got an adorable (and prominent) bump without feeling like too pregnant.
When should I schedule my Maternity Session?
Newborn Sessions can be tricky to schedule. It is recommend that newborns be photographed within the first 14 days of birth. Definitely reach out during your pregnancy with your due date so it's on my radar. However, I do not officially schedule the newborn session until baby is here. So, once you give birth reach out as soon as possible (I've had mamas reach out during labor even!), and I will get you on the calendar. Availability is limited to studio and photographer availability at the time of birth, but I will do my absolute best to accommodate your session in a timely manner.
